You may even be fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the world famous Bellagio fountains before spotting the New York-New York skyline and Luxor pyramid beam. Simply put, the is the only way to truly experience all of the excitement that the Las Vegas strip has to offer.
Your flight will also take you past the Hoover Dam, which is one of the more astonishing feats of engineering that you will ever have the privilege of witnessing. Standing hundreds of feet tall and over a thousand feet long, the amount of concrete used to construct the Hoover Dam could also be used to construct a two lane highway that starts in New York City and ends in San Francisco.
The Mojave Desert offers visitors the chance to take in beautiful mountain landscapes and get to know more about the desert landscape. While the Mojave Desert does not always look very inviting, a closer look reveals several different habitats that provide homes for an abundance of species from all over the wild kingdom. Animals, plants and fish make their home in the mountains, valleys, forests, wetlands and springs that this desert is comprised of.
As the Grand Canyon gets closer, you’ll cross the placid waters of Lake Mead and get a closer look at its sandstone shorelines. Lake Mead was formed by Hoover Dam and is still the single largest reservoir in the United States of America in capacity terms. It is also the largest man made lake in the United States. Lake Mead is a whopping 112 miles long when it is full, contains 759 miles of shoreline, and sits at 532 feet when at its greatest depth. The thousands of desert plants and animals who reside here have learned to adapt to the weather conditions and thrive.
