Las Vegas, Nevada Travel Guide

las vegas travel guide blog

Las Vegas: the city with sparkle, neon, and pizzazz. There’s so much to see and do beneath the twinkling lights of Sin City, and it can be hard to know where to start. On your trip to Las Vegas, make the most of your time by choosing the best of the best in food, lodging, gambling, nightlife, and daytime activities. Here’s how you can have your craziest, most fun Las Vegas trip yet!

Things to See

While most people spend the majority of their Las Vegas trips inside a casino (and you probably will, too), there’s actually quite a lot to see that doesn’t involve cards or spinning numbers. Every trip to Las Vegas needs to include a gander at the iconic Las Vegas Sign, and you’ll definitely want a snapshot of it  for your social media feed.

After you’ve seen the sign, move on to the big, flashy hotels and their famous casino attractions. As you know, many of the casinos have huge statues or displays outside their doors. They seem to be trying to outdoor each other with glitter and size, and it’s hard to say who is winning. Perhaps the most well-known is the scale model of the Eiffel Tower. This is attached to larger Paris display is the casino and hotel Paris, Las Vegas.

Don’t get sidetracked by the gambling yet, though, because there is still more to see. Also popular with tourists is the Statue of Liberty, which is smaller than the actual thing in New York City but still an impressive size. You can see this at New York- New York Hotel and Casino. Don’t forget to visit Ancient Egypt at Luxor Hotel and Casino, where you can see the Luxor Sphinx and the Sky Beam, which is the world’s strongest beam of light. Finally, take a look at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino’s huge MGM Lion statue.

Be sure to check out some of the classic Las Vegas views, as well. You’ll definitely want to see The Golden Nugget, one of the city’s oldest casinos, and its display of the largest gold nugget discovered by metal detector. See Ballagio Fountains, too. Catch the fountains between eight and midnight for a fantastic water show.

Things to Do

During the day or the early evening, have some fun before you start the party. The Forum Shops is a nice mall to shop, especially when it’s hot and you might melt if you try to do stuff outside. If you’re a Pawn Stars fan, check out The World Famous Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, where you can see some of the crazy stuff that people bring in to sell.

Even if you’re not a fan of the show, it’s still pretty cool. For the adventurous, the Stratosphere is a Las Vegas highlight. This casino and hotel features the tallest tower in the Wild West, and you can hang off the side if you take one of their horrifyingly high thrill rides. Do it, or you’ll wish you did! Once the sun sets, walk Fremont Street. The dome over the street looks like something from the Space Age, and it’s cool to see it lit up with the rest of the neon.

Tours to Take

To get an overview of Las Vegas, take a tour. This is an especially good idea if you’re traveling alone, or if you want to meet other people on a fun outing. There are several to choose from, and all of them offer something a little different. The Big Bus Las Vegas Tour, like all of the company’s big city tours, is a great way to enjoy an engaging talk on the city’s geography, history, and culture.

This tour will take you to most of the “things to see” in this article, plus more. If you want something a little crazier, try the Party Bus LV tours. This company has a few tours to choose from, but all of them include booze, booze, and more booze. If you choose a bar-hopping tour, you’ll get to try several different bars and clubs—without the wait in line.

Make sure to take the next day off, though, because after partying until the wee hours you won’t be able to do much in the morning! You can also opt for a day party tour, which includes an energetic pool party. This one is great for the hot months when there aren’t a lot of other outside options.

Nightlife to Love

The Marquee Night Club in The Cosmopolitan is the place to be on the weekends. This is perhaps the most desirable club in Las Vegas. Not only is the location convenient, but it also offers several different party options. You can party in the day or night, and the huge club features multiple rooms with different vibes. You can also check out the deck, or do some celeb sighting as you sip.

Moon Night Club is one of the clubs at The Palms. This is a sexy place to spend the evening. The club is on the 53rd floor, so you’ll have a great view of Las Vegas from above. It also has a retractable roof, so you can get a glimpse of the stars as you party the night away.

Chateu Nights is the club at the Paris hotel. This is a great rooftop experience, located right below the Eiffel Tower. You can have a great view of the Strip and the surrounding area, including Bellagio Fountains. This club is perfect for lovers of glamour.

Places to Stay

Aria is fancy, fancy, fancy. You will love everything about the luxury accommodations here: the rooms, the décor, the food, and the modern tech.

The Venetian isn’t just a classy place to play, it’s also a classy place to stay. The rooms are huge, with big beds, a TV, couches, and everything you could ask for in a hotel. Again, though, it is expensive.

Monte Carlo is a cheap place to stay on the Strip, and it’s also a pretty decent place. This is a good option if you want to have a comfortable stay without all the bells and whistles, or if you just want to spend your money on the slots and not your room.

Food to Eat

Planet Hollywood is a fun place to eat. As the name suggests, the whole complex is movie themed! You’ll get to see some cool movie memorabilia inside the restaurants, and you can overlook the city if you sit near the edge of the outdoor area.

Andiamo Steakhouse is the best place to go if you want a fancy night out—or just want to spend some of those winning on steak. It’s casual, yet classy. The service is excellent.

Le Cirque is a pretty fancy place, and it’s also a lot of fun. You feel like you’re in a giant circus tent! If you’re in Las Vegas during a birthday, make reservations here. Don’t forget dessert!

It can be hard to choose what to do first, but who says you can only take one Las Vegas trip in your lifetime? Pick your favorite and get planning. There’s so much to experience! Let’s get this party started.
