Outdoor Things to Do in Henderson

Now that the weather’s cooling off, we wanted to give you some great ideas for experiencing the outdoors in Henderson! From nature preserves to waterparks, this city has fun for solo adventurers, friends, and even the whole family. Check out these awesome outdoor things to do in Henderson:

Get Out and Get Moving!

Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve

The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve is a beautiful place to bird watch. Travel along the paved path, or pause next to one of the 9 ponds on the grounds. You’ll see both resident desert birds and migratory waterfowl. (They request that you please do not feed the birds.)

Clark County Wetlands

The Wetlands Nature preserve is a great place for bird and other animal watching. There are lovely trails, ponds, mesquite woodland, desert scrub, boardwalks, amphitheatres, and more! Guided walks are available, and you’ll definitely want to take the kids to the Wetlands Neighborhood Park, with animal statues, picnic areas, and a rock wall.

Cowabunga Bay

Cowabunga Bay waterpark is fun for the whole family! Waterslides, splash pools, rafting, relaxing – you name it, you can do it here. There’s a wave pool, a boardwalk bay, and even a private pool for Members Only if you want to get away from the crowds for a bit.

Heritage Park

Heritage Park is a great place to spend the afternoon. Whether you’re dancing around the Splashpad, letting the dogs run wild in the dog park, or having a nice quiet picnic, Heritage is the place.  There are play areas for the kids, classes for adults and children at the community center, ball areas, and amphitheater, and more.

Hoover Dam

Okay, so it’s not technically Henderson, but just on the outskirts is Hoover Dam. Enjoy this engineering feat and the power of nature in one place. Take a tour of the dam and the power plant. Take as many photos as you want! It’s a great place to take the kids, get out of the city for a while, or even go on an (albeit unusual) date!
